[Questions] 1988年数据 如何获得婚姻状况变量？

 您好，

我试图在1988年数据里找到婚姻状况变量，但是在问卷和数据里都没有找到该变量， 或任何关于配偶的信息 （比如教育和收入）。

我试图用“与户主关系”来得到婚姻状况的变量，但是由于“与户主关系” 没有“儿媳”或者“女婿”的分类，我不能确定如果是在结了婚，与父母辈住在一起的情况下，如何找到“女婿”或者“儿媳”？他们是被归类到“儿子-女儿“ 这一类里，还是在”其他关系“这一类里？

或者是否有其他办法找到婚姻状况相关信息？

 如果没有大的妨碍的话可以只把户主及其配偶纳入你的样本，不考虑其他家庭成员

可以参考这篇文章的appendix提供的algorithm。我本人觉得他们的方法未必所有人都会同意。

非常感谢参考文献！只是如你所说，我也觉得这样的确定婚姻关系有些不稳妥。主要是没有办法确定是儿媳还是女儿，或是女婿vs儿子。如果只用一年的数据可能还可以justify，但是如果用多年的数据，使用fixed 或者random effects，coding error的问题可能更严峻一些。
