The researchers in CIID published a number of papers in the top level Chinese journals such as Social Science in China, Economic Research Journal, Management World, China Economic Quarterly, and in international journals such as China Economic Review, Economic Development and Cultural Change, Journal of Comparative Economics, and Journal of Development Economics. 

The researchers in CIID also edited several books on income distribution in China, such as "China's Retreat from Equality: income distribution and economic transition", "Inequality and Public Policy in China".

Furthermore, the researchers in CIID have undertaken many key projects. For instance, "Reform on the System of Income Distribution and Social Equity" from National Social Science Foundation; "Deepening Reform of Income Distribution" and "the General Idea of the System Reform on Income Distribution during the Twelfth Five-year-plan" from National Development and Reform Committee.
